Behind The Scenes: Meraki.London Photoshoot

A dear friend of mine happens to be a great makeup artist, hairstylist and mehendi artist, and she planned to do a photoshoot to advertise and for her portfolio. Meraki London has been around for several years and has successfully been providing makeup and mehendi services for photoshoots, brides and catwalks. Her talented skills have been shown in various different areas from fitness commercials to bridal makeup.
I was invited to help her out on her very own photoshoot, to be stylist and photographer and I was very much happy to oblige. The day started slightly later than planned (technical difficulties!) and Varshita began transforming the look of a model into a queen. Having previously arranged jewellery from NK collections (which we thank very much for having being provided beautiful pieces) and using an array of asian clothing, we created several different looks.
The first involved a more Western style look, customised by very basic jewellery and a simple dress, although the highlight here was definitely the makeup and hair.
The other looks we went for were definitely more Asian traditional bridal type looks. With heavy jewellery, elaborately embroidered saris, we created a few different effective looks. We had to be creative with how the sari was draped and it was definitely not worn in no ordinary manner, however the photos came out great and look as if they are!
Going back to the makeup. In all of the looks, the makeup is just perfect. In some makeup campaign shoots, there is a heavy use of makeup, making the model seem as though she had been caked in it. Meraki's expertise demonstates the fine balance between not too much and not too little, how to accentuate the existing features of a client as well as how to transform the look of an everyday girl into a beautiful woman.
The hairstyle was very intricate and it was obvious from watching the hairstyle being put together that a lot of attention to detail, time and effort was put in to perfect the look.
Overall it was a brilliant day and the photos taken came out better than expected
